Mission Conclusion

I was hoping that the running of missions with Sisters of Eve would soon repair my Gallente standings, and it turns out it was sooner than expected! A single encounter storyline which provided +15% gain to the SoE faction, also gave a +13% gain to Gallente. With being so far negative, this took me from -5.86 to -4.67 in a single go. Gallente space tends to play a large part in corp activities so I’m glad I’m now able to go there safely.

The side effect of this is that my Caldari standings have now dropped from +9.91 to +9.84, but I didn’t want such high standings anyway.

In the early hours of 25th January, I finally completed the last storyline mission to get my Caldari faction standing to +9.91. My original target was +9.90 so I would qualify for the (almost) free faction battleship BPC that is handed out by a specific agent. Just so I was sure that my objective was complete, I spoke to the agent who promptly handed over the BPC.

Substitution: L2s Replaced by L4s

I’ve had enough of running L2s for the standings gains. While it may be quicker to run each mission and therefore 65% quicker to get a storyline mission, I’ve decided that the additional isk and LP, coupled with the possibility of double standing gains from L4s (compared with L2s) are worth more in the long run. Besides, I may be able to get some assistance with the L4s to speed things up a little!

 

Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It…

Having joined a new corporation at the beginning of the year and due to their probationary period, I’ve found myself with a month of spare time before the real fun starts. I recently remembered that “free” faction ship BPCs are available for hitting a certain faction standing, and having already obtained the frigate and cruiser versions, I decided to go for the battleships. This requires a faction standing of at least +9.90 so I didn’t think I really was too far away starting at +9.70.

Testing Incursions

This post is based upon my experience on the Singularity test server and may change prior to deployment!

So I’ve just completed my first Incursion on the test server in preparation for getting my corp involved in these post 18th January. Having found the incursions spawning over the map, 3 of us went to visit a nearby hisec one with a view to testing the Scout site. The Scout site is the entry-level incursion designed for 3 to 5 people but unfortunately there weren’t any of these present in this particular constellation so we had to either attempt a Vanguard or leave it. Not wanting to make a wasted journey, we prepared to warp in!

To Remap or not to Remap

My first attribute remap completed its one year anniversary back in April and since that date, I’ve been conscious of the fact that I have another at my disposal. Until today, I’ve not properly looked into how, or even if, I should configure this one.

One of my “end-game” goals in Eve is to train all available skills. Subject to there being no additional skills released in the winter 2010 patch, together with having sufficient ISK to do so, I should reach this goal with my current attributes in early December.

The remaining skills I have to train aren’t really the best of the bunch and I can’t see me putting any of them to use in the foreseeable future, but it’s a goal I want to achieve and so I’m going to stick to it. Here’s the list of the outstanding skill queue I need to train:

This skill queue will take just short of 162 days to train with the current set of attributes. A look at the remap tool in EveHQ shows that this can be improved quite significantly, albeit with a downside!

Yes, the optimal remap for this queue is to put everything into Memory and Charisma. While I wouldn’t have minded this if the queue was for the next year, I’m not comfortable with having another seven months stuck at these attributes.

So, I decided to have a look at what skills I want to train once my goal is complete. Taking my current requirements into account, this is what emerged:

Lots of time in the missile and gunnery skills and after seven years or so, it should really be time to train those final learning skills to 5! Another optimisation of the remap yielded some very familiar results:

The optimal attributes for the revised skill queue showed it was only three days difference out of almost 14 months to what my base attributes currently stand. Memory still features prominently but it’s not worth sacrificing a remap away from Willpower for 3 days gain, especially as the queue could change at the start of next year.

So, two months after my last remap period ended, it would appear that doing nothing was almost the optimal thing to do!

Having been an avid reader of many Eve-based blogs over the last several months, it has always been particularly interesting for me to see some bloggers posting up the skill chart from EveHQ. Recently, one such post by Gilbert Hamilton caught my eye and I thought maybe I could do that too!

So, in all it’s glory, here it is…

Looking at all those skills got me thinking some more. I’ve been in this game a while now, how much would I have spent on each section? Well, another quick dip into EveHQ was kind of shocking to start with, but you soon realise that all those carrier and dread skills don’t come cheap!

Good job I’ve put the Titan skills on hold :P
